Oil and gas fasteners face the most extreme combination of conditions in industry: high temperature, high pressure, strong vibration and corrosive media - and equipment failure usually carries safety and environmental consequences. In this sector, washer selection is not a cost question but a safety one.
Pump and compressor bases → DIN 25201 Wedge Lock Washers
Pressure pulsation from reciprocating compressors and plunger pumps is classic low-frequency, high-amplitude vibration and readily causes thread self-loosening - and loosening on this equipment can lead to media leakage. Wedge lock washers provide stable locking under pressure pulsation. Dacromet is recommended: no hydrogen embrittlement risk, suitable for high strength grades.
High-temperature steam piping and refining units → DIN 6796 Belleville Washers / DIN 7967
There is one critical selection point here: the service temperature limit for nylon-insert lock nuts is around 120 C, above which the nylon softens and fails. Refining units can exceed 300 C, so DIN 7967 all-metal lock nuts must be used instead. Belleville washers compensate preload decay caused by high-temperature creep.
Flanges and pipework connections → NFE25-511 M Belleville Washers / DIN 6798A Tooth Lock
Flanges need high preload plus elastic compensation. NFE25-511 carries higher load than DIN 6796 and suits high-pressure pipe flanges; tooth lock washers are used on branch pipes and fittings with stronger vibration.
Valve assemblies and instrument lines → DIN 6798J Internal Tooth / Starlock Washers
Valve assemblies, instruments and control components have many small fixing points. Starlock and shaft retaining washers are push-on designs that assemble without turning, suited to the confined interiors of instrument panels and valve assemblies.
Custom equipment stamped parts → Custom Stamped Parts
Explosion-proof enclosure connectors, pipe clamps and brackets can be produced to drawing.
For high-strength bolts (10.9 and above) Dacromet is preferred, avoiding the hydrogen embrittlement risk of the acid pickling step in hot-dip galvanising.
