Solar mounting fastening points fall into distinct groups: posts and beams that carry the array weight, mid-clamps and rail connections, module frame clamps, and frame positions requiring grounding continuity. Each has a different load path, so each calls for a different washer. Below is the part-by-part product mapping.
Post base and beam connections → DIN 25201 Wedge Lock Washers / NFE25-511 Belleville Washers
These are the primary load-bearing nodes of the array, exposed to transverse vibration from wind load over the long term. DIN 25201 uses two washers with radial cam serrations in a pair: under vibration the cams deform elastically rather than slipping as a whole, preventing self-loosening at the structural level. NFE25-511 is used between base and foundation to absorb impact and distribute load.
Purlin-to-rail connections → DIN 6798A External Tooth / DIN 6798J Internal Tooth
High in quantity and low in per-point load, this is a cost-sensitive area. External or internal teeth bite into the substrate for mechanical locking and also provide electrical continuity. External tooth suits softer substrates; internal tooth suits countersunk or space-constrained positions. Dacromet coating is recommended - no hydrogen embrittlement, 500+ hours salt spray.
Module clamps and frame fixing → DIN 6798J Internal Tooth
Module frames are aluminium, so clamp fixing must satisfy two requirements at once: resistance to vibration loosening and a stable grounding connection. The serrations on contact washers penetrate the aluminium oxide layer, ensuring low-impedance electrical continuity between frame and rail to meet lightning protection requirements.
Thermal movement compensation points → DIN 6796 Belleville Washers / DIN 9250S Belleville Washers
Module surfaces reach 70 C in summer and drop below -10 C in winter, and the thermal expansion of aluminium differs markedly from steel. Belleville washers act as elastic elements to maintain axial clamp load, stabilising preload through thermal cycling and preventing cyclical node loosening.
Metal roofing and light-duty fixing → Screw Cup Washers / Raised-Point Anti-Slip Flat Washers
Screw cup washers have a curved bearing face that combines weather sealing with protection when used with self-tapping screws, suitable for the interface between metal roofing and mounting rails. Raised-point anti-slip washers are used at fixing points requiring positional grip.

Clamps, corner brackets, U-shaped brackets and reinforced corner supports can be tooled to drawing and supplied in volume.
For coastal or high-humidity plants all products above are available in A4 (316) stainless. For inland desert plants, Dacromet carbon steel offers better value.
